Summer is heard, and it’s time to enjoy the garden once again. If the garden is designed for any season, it’s summer, so make sure you make the most of it this year. Cut and weed the grass, weed the patio and paths, water everything, and manage fences for a perfect summer space.

Healthy Lawn

Lawn care is a year-round task if you want a lawn that is green, level, and healthy. Through the winter, there are very few opportunities to cut the grass; the ground is either boggy or icy, causing moss to grow. In spring, this moss needs to be raked out and weed killer put down.

In the summer, there are other challenges to face. During dry spells in summer, the lawn can become dry and require more maintenance. Make sure you water the grass frequently during the summer and maintain a healthy length. Summer is also a good chance to weed the lawn.

Plant Health

Flowers bring your garden to life. Hopefully, you have plenty of inspiring bulbs planted for the summer season ready for you to enjoy. If you don’t, there’s still time. Remember, you don’t have to grow the flowers from scratch; some species can be planted in the summer, ready to thrive.

When it comes to summer flowers, you need to look out for diseases and blemishes on the leaves that can spread to other parts of the plant and other plants. Plant diseases can be caused by bacteria, viruses, and fungi. The leaves can also be damaged by aphids and bugs.

Path Weeding

If you want your garden to feel like home this summer, think about weeding regularly. Path weeding is needed every summer. Try as you might, weeds are a perennial concern. Weeds are sometimes seeded by passing birds, but often, they continue to grow from their previous roots.

Weed killers can be effective, but unless you uproot the weed and remove all traces of the roots and pollinators, you will see the same species thriving again in the same place the next year. Try not to get frustrated with weeding. Make it part of your summer gardening project each year.

Container Care

Containers and pots are an excellent way to add structure and color to your garden, but they need to be cared for properly. The first thing to consider is the climate of your garden. Areas that are hot and dry will need artificial watering. But watering is also needed for high rainfall areas.

If you live in a dry climate, make sure you soak the compost in the containers until it runs through the holes in the bottom. This ensures your container plants have enough water to sustain them. The same is true for rainy areas, don’t rely on the rain to water planets fully.
