How to make your house smell ‘fresh’

Your home should be somewhere that you feel safe and you feel secure. It’s why you invest in locks on the front doors and it’s why you ensure you have a dog to make sure that you feel protected overnight while you sleep. In the winter months, you ensure you have the heat running and the thick blankets ready on the sofa to snuggle down into.

In the summer, you ramp up the air conditioning to make sure that you are as comfortable as possible inside when the world feels a little less comfortable outside. Sometimes though, your home can feel less than fresh so the one thing that you need to do is everything possible to make it feel bright and airy once more. A fresh home means never feeling cooped up, so how do you ensure that it feels fresh and good? Well, we’ve got a few ideas for you below.

  • Invest in a HVAC clean. It’s nice to have air purifiers around the home to make the air cleaner, and the Hunter Pure Air option can help with that. However, there is no use in having air purifiers if your HVAC hasn’t been serviced and is pumping out stale air. If you don’t have the filters of your HVAC cleaned often enough, but instead of enjoying fresh air, you will be enjoying air that has become stagnant and stale.
  • Keep the house tidy. Like it shrinks into itself, and that can make you feel claustrophobic and stuck. Instead of feeling stuck all the time, you need to do what you can to keep it tidy. You should always be able to make a mess in your own home when you need to, whether you cook, play or even make a pillow Fort from time to time as an adult. A place for everything, however, means that everything must have a place and if you have too much clutter in your house it can feel untidy and less than fresh. Add in some decluttering and spring cleaning and your home will feel fresh from the beginning.
  • Add a little scent. What do you have in your home to make it smell good? Some people choose to have candles where others choose to have air freshener systems. There are many things that can cause odors that are unpleasant in the home, whether that’s garbage, cooking or even pets. Unclean air filters as we mentioned earlier could also make the house smell bad. You can’t always control the source of odors in your home, but you can make your home smell fresher. Making it smell good will make the whole house feel brighter.
  • Open the windows. Even when it’s raining you open up the windows and let the air comment. It’s not just the air here, it’s the sunshine. Natural lighting can help you to make your whole home light up. You’ll feel more calm, and the natural light spectrum can really help to enhance the way your home looks. Opening up the windows will help to make all of the linens and upholstery in your home also smell fresher for longer.
