As you welcome 2022, you might have made a resolution for kicking off some healthy habits. It is never too late to change your life for the better. Those of us who are trying to quit smoking, or lose weight, or simply want to be healthy in 2022 are all counting down the days until we can make our resolution happen. But why wait?

There are lots of wholesome practices you can start now, without waiting for the New Year to arrive.

7 Healthy Habits You Can Start Now!

Many people are struggling with their health and want to make positive changes but feel like they don’t know where to start. We’ve got you covered! Here are 7 healthy habits that will help motivate and inspire you.

Start now and reap the benefits in 2022!

Start waking up earlier

Set your alarm for 30 minutes before you actually need to get out of bed. Take this time to prepare yourself a healthy breakfast that will keep you full throughout the day.

Studies show that those who eat breakfast tend to avoid overeating later on, as well as experience more energy and mental clarity. Also, this habit will give you an extra half an hour during your daytime, which you can use for something fruitful.

Stop smoking

This is not only an unhealthy habit but a costly one as well. For those of you who are trying to quit, there is no better time than now. Even if it seems hard at first, every day will get easier. Before long, you will be breathing in fresh air instead of cigarette smoke.

If it’s hard to get cold turkey, switch to vape instead. It’s better than smoking in terms of bad effects on health.

Move more

Sitting still for long periods can actually shorten your life by increasing the chances of having heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. The good news is that you don’t have to go on a marathon or work out at the gym to stay healthy.

Try going for a walk around the block or doing some stretches in your living room before starting the day. Plus, take occasional breaks during work to move your legs. It’s easy to make small changes like these, and you will definitely feel better afterward.

Clean out your fridge

This is one of those healthy habits that most people don’t usually think about, but it can help keep you away from eating too much salt and fat.

An easy way to start is by throwing out the food that has gone bad and keeping only healthy produce in your fridge. Also, make the habit of cooking at home instead of grabbing snacks or fast food on the go.

Say no to fast food

Fast food has way too much salt and fat that can cause heart disease, diabetes, obesity… The list goes on and on. By staying away from fast food, you will be reducing your chances of getting sick or having any serious medical conditions.

Eat more vegetables

Keeping at least one veggie item in your daily meal is an easy way to start making positive changes in your diet without feeling like it’s a chore. Vegetables are less attractive than burgers and fries, but eating them will improve your digestion and bring plenty of other health benefits. Learn to make various preparations with veggies, so your palate does not get bored.

Stop drinking soda

If you are struggling with feeling tired throughout the day and don’t quite know why, stop drinking soda or any sugary drink. It might be hard at the beginning but it’s worth a try. Once you get rid of the soda, start drinking more water and fruit juices instead. Your body will thank you in 2022!
